Often some snow around at heights of over 1200 metres. Typical spring weather - lots of sunny days with the occasional shower. Spring flowers bloom in abundance in the meadows and the grass is lush and green. Paths can be a bit sticky from heavy dews and odd spring rainfall, but drying out towards the end of the month. Evenings start to get longer and warmer so you can hope to enjoy a beer on our sunny terrace.
Most of the snow has mainly melted by June. Temperatures are very pleasant although walking
through the forests can bring welcome shade during the midday periods. It's lovely to get out
early on bright sunny day as the world wakes up around you. The evening clicking of crickets
really makes you feel you're on holiday and bars start to put the tables outside for alfresco drinks.
It's best to start your day soon after breakfast to make the most of the cool mornings before it gets too hot. Summer flowers are at their best now and you'll also find wild raspberries and strawberries on the alpine slopes. Evenings lend themselves to peaceful starlit strolls through the village after dinner, although the hot days are occasionally interspersed with spectacular lightening storms at night.
Days are very warm to extremely hot! Temperatures can reach the mid-thirties at times so you will really appreciate the cool tumbling rivers and lakes you encounter on your walks. Lifts are open to take you to the top to avoid some of the uphill climbs in the heat of the day. Evenings are long and balmy - perfect to enjoy the occasional lodge bbq.
Days start to cool to a very pleasant walking temperature but still offer long days. Whilst walking look out for the locals who will be out picking Myrtilles (blueberries) and mushrooms for their dinner. Evenings are still warm enough to sit out for a pre-dinner drink on the Lodge terrace and watch the sun set behind the mountains.
Chilly mornings with warm days. The beech trees interspersed within the
fir trees change colour lending the Aravis range a gold and russet hue.
Utterly stunning walking in crisp, clear conditions along quiet tracks.
Evenings are drawing in and can be quite cold but you can spend a lively
evening in the Lodge bar.
Come late October there may occasionally be just a dusting of snow on the tops of the highest peaks. Whenever you come for an alpine Walk Weekender short break holiday we are confident that you will enjoy some good weather and conditions during your stay in the Aravis mountains.
