The
Belier Mountain challenge - meaning 'The Ram', the symbol of La Clusaz -
is a fantastic festival for keen walkers or runners. You'll be taking part
with over 1500 participants and testing your surefootedness and stamina
to the limit whilst enjoying the stunning views and clean mountain air.
The full Belier challenge consists of a 27km off-road route with an overall climbing height of over 1000 vertical metres. You can either enter the race to run this course or simply walk the stunning trail for a very rewarding and challenging full-day walk.
For less extreme walkers there is the option of walking the 'L'Agneau' or 'The Lamb' route which takes
in 13km with a vertical height of 450metres. You can then either descend by chair lift or continue your walk back down to the festivities in the village centre.
Both routes are on tracks and trails through mountain pastures and forests and start and end in La Clusaz village centre. When you finish you are rewarded by a traditional alpine meal of Diot sausages and a glass of red wine! There are feeding stations enroute offering water, energy drinks, dried fruit, chocolate and, strangely, cheese.
The views are beautiful, the climbs are challenging and very steep in places but the exhilaration of taking part with so many others and the atmosphere at the finish makes it all worth while! Whether you are a serious endurance athlete or a relatively fit hiker - call us on 01202 661865 for more information or to enter you into the competition.

We will host normal guided walks on the Friday and Saturday, The Belier will be on the Sunday and Monday can be either a relaxing day around the Lodge and exploring the resorts of La Clusaz and Grand Bornand or feature a mountain walk if you prefer.
Entry fees for the Belier are 15 euros and entitle you to an entry, a commemorative
t-shirt, a sports massage and a free meal after the event.
Closing date for entry is the beginning of August (or when the number of
