When your legs have had enough walking for one day there are still plenty of things to do in the surrounding area of the Haute Savoie region.
Close to
home is the attractive "centre ville" of La
Clusaz with its many shops and restaurants as well as the summer luge, tennis courts and horse riding. The swimming
pool and fitness centre are perfect for unwinding with the best views
over the mountains from any swimming pool we know of!
There are many activities to be enjoyed in the stunning mountains –
as well as fascinating places to discover. The tourist offices have a full
programme of attractions on offer. Why not combine a day in the village
with market day? Both La Clusaz and Grand Bornand have bustling markets
once a week which are definitely worth a visit - you can buy everything
from local food specialities to the latest mountain yodelling CD! To see
pictures of the markets, surrounding areas and other attractions, see our
photos pages.
There are also various celebrated summer festivals throughout the summer and autumn season. See our specials pages for more details of events on offer.
There is also the opportunity to go horse riding, paragliding or go karting, all within 20 mins of the Lodge. Contact us for prices, availability or more information.
The historic and charming medieval
town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away and a regular bus service
runs from just outside our Aravis Lodge. You can easily spend a
day exploring the medieval heart of this city, eating lunch in one
of the numerous pavement cafes and visiting the historic chateau
or Palais de l'Isle - the old prison.
Spend the afternoon wandering
along its Lakeshore, set against a backdrop of stunning mountains,
or take a boat trip on the aquamarine lake itself, calling at other
medieval villages along the way. On a hot day you may just want
to lie on the lakeside beach, swim in the clean water or hire a
pedalo for an alternative view of Annecy. On Sundays there is an
extensive market snaking in and out of the tiny winding streets
which is fun to peruse.
Geneva is also another option for city fans, being just one hour away. You may like to extend your holiday to spend a night in Geneva either before of after your weekend break with us in order to explore this cosmopolitan city with interesting architecture or walk along the lakeshore of the largest lake in Europe.
Also, don’t forget that the Lodge comes complete with its own gym and fitness suite with sauna and well-being zone, as well as CD, stereo, video and DVD, Playstation etc. so you can relax at home. The large sun terrace is a perfect place to chill out, sit back, catch some rays, have a beer and read a book!
